With a slew of superhero films set to debut in the next year, fans are more anxious than ever to see their trailers released. From Spider-Man: Homecoming to Justice League, moviegoers have been waiting not-so-patiently for footage of the films to drop, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has been no different. Fans continue to ask director James Gunn when exactly the full trailer for the blockbuster will drop. And, now, the man himself is commenting on the elusive video.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn confirmed the final cut of the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer was done and would be released soon. The director also talked about how difficult it was to cut the trailer knowing that fans would immediately dissect it for possible clues and spoilers.

"Guardians is the harder one," he said in reference to his upcoming movie The Belko Experiment. "With Guardians, people really go through every single little shot and try to figure out what the movie's about. And there's a lot of mysteries in Guardians 2."

The director continued, saying that the upcoming trailer would not give away very much. "With Guardians, it's such an emotional and physical journey, going to all these different places. It's like, 'God, do I really want to show this planet we go to in the middle of the movie?" he said. "Those are always hard choices to make."

Of course, fans are excited to see the trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 because of its history. The trailer for the first film was a viral hit with fans and critics in no small part by his soundtrack and humor. Fans are hoping the new trailer will live up to its predecessor, but Gunn revealed that the first video was very nearly scrapped.

"That trailer tested not very well," he admitted. "We had another trailer that was very cheesy that sold the movie as something different than what it was — that tested a little better."

He continued, saying, "At the end of the day, the [marketing] guys were like, 'This is what the movie is. We are selling what the movie is. Not something else,' " says Gunn. "You've got to sell the movie for what it is, and that's what they did. They really bought my trust with that on the first movie."
