Kerry Washington Comments On Deadpool 2 Domino Casting Rumors

After a stellar debut last year, Deadpool is looking to spice things up in theaters yet again with a highly anticipated sequel. The unconventional superhero flick soared at the box office in 2016 thanks to Ryan Reynold's NSFW performance, and 20th Century Fox is wanting to recreate the first film's magic for a second movie. In Deadpool 2, a slew of new characters are expected to be seen such as Cable and Domino. Already, speculation about who will be cast in those roles is rampant, and rumors regarding Domino's casting hit an all-time high this month when a reported casting call was discovered.

Now, one of the starlets rumored to be on the Deadpool 2 shortlist is speaking out about her possible involvement. And, as expected, Kerry Washington is great at answering questions diplomatically.

The Scandal star was recently interviewed by Extra TV where an interviewers asked her about the rumors suggesting she was being sought after to play Domino. Playing coy, this is what Washington had to say about the ordeal: "I don't have anything to say about that. They know more than I do."

When asked if she would take the role if offered it, Washington was quick to say yes. "Of course I would, but you know, you always have to get the right person for whatever role," she answered.

Of course, the whole conversation surrounding Washington being cast as Domino began last week. Reports began surfacing that contained a character breakdown for the Deadpool sequel, and you can read up on Domino's description below:

"Female, All ethnicities; Late 20s – early 30s. Sexy, lithe and athletic. She has a witty personality. Neena is a no-nonsense badass who rarely shows her feeling. Highly capable, supremely confident and armored in . . . well ARMOR . . . and bullet-proof sarcasm. But beneath her shell she's still and vulnerable and some soft, beating remnant of her humanity remains intact. In this scene we need to see both sides. When she can't get what she needs with insults, bluster and threats we need to see some of that vulnerability. It's hard for her to let down her guard, and in the mercenary community she grew up in showing compassion is almost embarrassing. We should feel like she'd be more comfortable killing Silberman than saying "Please"."

According to reports, both Sienna Miller and Gugu Mbatha-Raw were approached about the role but turned it down. As for Washington, it was said the actress was currently testing for the role.
