Kirsten Dunst Criticizes Sony's New Spider-Man Reboot

If you've ever wondered whether Kirsten Dunst was down for Sony's Spider-Man reboots, you have just been given an answer. The actress, who played Mary Jane Watson in Sam Raimi's trilogy, recent opened up about her thoughts on the Spider-Man reboots. Apparently, she doesn't really care for them.

In a new interview with Marie Claire, Dunst shares her thoughts about Sony's newest Spider-Man reboot with Marvel Studios. When asked about the new series, Dunst was less than impressed as she accused the studio of milking the superhero story dry.

"We made the best ones, so who cares?" Dunst said before continuing: "I'm like, 'You make it all you want.'"

"They're just milking that cow for money. It's so obvious. You know what I mean," she finished.

While this isn't the first time Dunst has spoken about Spider-Man's reboots, it is the most direct criticism she's given towards them. Recently, the star spoke with Variety and told the site she wasn't particularly fond of the web-slinging restarts.

"I don't care," she revealed, referring to Sony's recent Spider-Man reboot. "Everyone likes our Spider-Man. C'mon, am I right or what? Listen, I'd rather be in the first ones than the new ones."

So far, Sony has had three goes at Spider-Man. The studio had its first go with Sam Raimi back in the early 2000s with Tobey Maguire. Andrew Garfield was then brought in to play Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man films before Sony struck a deal with Marvel Studios. The agreement allowed for Spider-Man to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so Sony started over once more to revive the wall-crawling hero. As such, Tom Holland was cast after an extensive search, leading the British actor to debut Spider-Man's newest iteration in Captain America: Civil War.
