Logan To Premiere At 2017 Berlin Film Festival

Director James Mangold shocked everyone when he unleashed the debut trailer for Logan, Hugh Jackman's last outing as the Marvel icon Wolverine. After that, it didn't take long for the film to perch itself high atop fan's most anticipated in 2017 lists.

Now Mangold has announced where the film will premiere on Twitter, saying "Well. It's official. LOGAN premiering at the Berlin Film Festival in a little more than a month. Better finish this thing!" The festival runs from Thursday, February 9th to Saturday, February 18th.

The film takes inspiration from the popular Old Man Logan storyline seen the comics, but definitely takes its own spin on the premise. Mangold recently spoke about the more adult tone of the film in comparison to some of the previous movies and views this as a fantastic sendoff for Hugh Jackman in the popular role.

"Logan is an attempt to kind of bring an end to Hugh's kind of amazing performance as Wolverine, and the ambition of doing that is to try to make an adult film about Wolverine — to make a movie for grown-ups," Director James Mangold told Flicks and the City. "We're not trying to make a four box something for everyone. We're trying to make a movie that stands out and is a little different because it's a grown-up movie. A grown-up movie that also features intense action."

Logan takes place in the year 2024, where mutant births have become extremely rare. The defenders of mutant kind, the X-Men, are long gone, and the only remains of them are an old and struggling Charles Xavier and a weary Logan. Logan's vaunted healing factor has slowed, and at times doesn't seem to work at all. When a young mutant needs his help, Logan has to unsheathe his claws once more. His job isn't over yet.
