Man Dressed As Spider-Man Entertains Children Displaced By Hurricane Harvey

Thousands of people in Texas displaced by Hurricane Harvey have taken shelter at the George R. Brown convention center in Houston. Among them are several children, and at least one person is trying to keep the spirits of those children high.

A new video captured and tweeted by local news reporter Stef Manisero shows an unidentified individual dressed as Spider-Man entertaining several children at the convention center.

According to a report from KHOU, the Goerge R. Washington center was originally designated as having a capacity of 5,000 but is already housing 9,000 people with more evacuees still incoming. The Red Cross now states that the center is not at capacity and that no one will be turned away from it, but that they cannot guarantee the availability of beds or cots.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner has stated that more "mega-shelters" are in the process of being set up and will be opened as soon as they are ready. When that time comes, some of those currently situated at George R. Washington will be moved to new locations.

Hurricane Harvey relief efforts are underway and the stars of Supernatural have already raised over $130 thousand in contributions and will continue to accept more through Friday.
