It looks like Marvel Studios has found its Janet Van Dyne. The studio just confirmed Michelle Pfeiffer has been cast as the original Wasp at San Diego Comic Con.

If you are not familiar with the Wasp, then you will want to brush up on your basic Marve lore. The character is one of the original founders of the Avengers, and she is known for being a go-to hero within the Marvel Universe.

In the comics, Janet met Hank Pym as the scientist was an associate of her father's. The pair grew close over the years, and Janet suited up alongside the man after he invented his breakthrough Pym Particles which allowed him to shrink in size.

However, Janet's film history is a bit different. Fans learned in the first Ant-Man movie that the heroine was lot in the Quantum Realm after she tried to stop a missile from reaching the U.S. Janet went sub-atomic, causing her to be separated from Hank and their growing family. The pair's daughter Hope has since adopted the moniker of the Wasp as the girl was given Janet's protoype Wasp suit by her father.

Brandon Davis is on the scene at SDCC, and he had this to say about the Ant-Man and the Wasp presentation so far: "Concept art and test footage reveals Hank Pym in an Ant-Man costume. A trip to quantum realm. The Wasp, in a yellow suit, in action. A truck shrinks then becomes larger to blow another truck off of the road. The logo plays and Giant-Man peaks out from behind a building at traffic, hiding behind it."

In Ant-Man, forced out of his own company by former protégé Darren Cross, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) recruits the talents of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), a master thief just released from prison. Lang becomes Ant-Man, trained by Pym and armed with a suit that allows him to shrink in size, possess superhuman strength and control an army of ants. The miniature hero must use his new skills to prevent Cross, also known as Yellowjacket, from perfecting the same technology and using it as a weapon for evil.

Ant-Man was directed by Peyton Reed, with a screenplay by Edgar Wright & Joe Cornish and Adam McKay & Paul Rudd, and stars Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Tip "T.I." Harris, Anthony Mackie, Wood Harris, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, and Michael Douglas.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is again directed by Peyton Reed, with Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Farrari providing the screenplay and Adam McKay and Paul Rudd providing the story. The film stars Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man), Evangeline Lilly (Hope van Dyne/The Wasp), Michael Pena (Luis), Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), T.I. (Dave), Hannah John-Kamen, and David Dastmalchian (Kurt).
