ABC President Says Marvel's Inhumans Is Still A "Work In Progress"

It's safe to say that the reaction to Marvel's Inhumans has been rather unexpected. After the first trailer for the upcoming ABC series was first released, it drew quite a bit of backlash across the board. Many have criticized the show's production design and special effects, as has been displayed in the first look photo and early footage for the miniseries.

But according to ABC President Channing Dungey, viewers shouldn't count Inhumans out just yet. While speaking at the TCA press tour, Dungey explained that many of Inhumans' special effects are still being developed, with the backlash to the initial trailer being taken into account.

"A lot of the first stuff was a reaction to Medusa's wig. Fans, as you know, feel very passionately and very strongly about that." Dungey revealed. "We released some new footage at Comic-Con that I think has reversed some of that conversation. This is still a work in progress. We're really down to the wire on some of the special effects."

While Dungey's statement might not provoke confidence for some fans, it at least indicates that the series is evolving in some way. Even one of the series' directors agreed that the trailer didn't give the best first impression for the upcoming series.

Audiences will just have to wait and see what that final product ends up being when Marvel's Inhumans premieres in IMAX, followed by an extended premiere on ABC, next month.

Marvel's The Inhumans is set to premiere in IMAX theaters September 1, followed by its television debut beginning September 29 on ABC.

Since that time, they have grown in prominence and become some of the most popular and iconic characters in the Marvel Universe. Marvel's The Inhumans will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family.

Marvel's Inhumans stars Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan as Medusa,Iwan Rheon as Maximus, Ken Leung as Karnak, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, Mike Moh as Triton, Sonya Balmores as Auran, and EllenWoglom. The show is executive produced by Scott Buck (Dexter, Marvel's Iron Fist) with Jeph Loeb (Marvel's Daredevil, Marvel's Jessica Jones, Marvel's Luke Cage) and Jim Chory (Marvel's Daredevil, Marvel's Jessica Jones, Marvel's Luke Cage). Buck is serving as showrunner. Roel Reine (Admiral, Black Sails) will direct the first two episodes, which will debut in IMAX theaters. Marvel's Inhumans is co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios.
