Marvel's Inhumans: Medusa's Wig Weighs A Crazy Amount

Marvel's Inhumans has already faced quite a bit of scrutiny ahead of its September debut. While the show's recent Television Critics Association presentation might not have helped lessen fans' worries, it did provide an interesting tidbit about one of the most talked-about elements of the miniseries - Medusa's hair.

Serinda Swan, who will portray the Inhuman royal family member in the upcoming Marvel Television production, revealed just how much effort goes into her character's famous locks. While much of her hair's powers are done with CGI, the physical wig Swan had to wear was apparently a beast in its own right - weighing at least four pounds.

"It's very heavy," Swan explained. "You put it on and everyone is like, 'You've such good posture, you're so regal,' but no, my head is being pulled backwards."

According to the actress, the wig's weight created an interesting combination with one of the series' primary shooting locations - Hawaii.

"There were definitely days shooting in Hawaii with a four-pound red wig down to my shins," Swan revealed, "which felt like a very warm cat settling on my head, one that I was probably allergic to."

While Medusa's hair has been criticized by some, Swan reassured that the version fans ultimately see onscreen will be worth all of the trouble. Fans will just have to wait for the premiere of Inhumans to see Medusa's hair in action.

Marvel's The Inhumans is set to premiere in IMAX theaters September 1, followed by its television debut beginning September 29 on ABC.

In Marvel's Inhumans, after the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where their surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them may prove to not only save them, but Earth itself.
