Marvel Studios has reportedly released a new synopsis for its next feature film, Marvel's Doctor Strange. The Doctor Strange synopsis describes the origin story of Stephen Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme, and offers a general description of the character's power set and role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

Marvel's Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City's Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.

Doctor Strange will be the fourteenth installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is particularly exciting for introducing new metaphysical concepts, such as alternate dimensions and arcane forces, into the shared superhero film universe

Doctor Strange began filming November 2015 and wrapped in April 2016. The film was shot at Longcross Studios in the United Kingdom, and on location in Nepal, London, and New York City.

Doctor Strange is directed by Scott Derrickson, who co-wrote the screenplay with C. Robert Cargill and Jon Spaihts. The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, Mads Mikkelsen, and Tilda Swinton. Academy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino will provide the score for the film.
