New X-Men TV Pilot Nabs Reported Production Start Date

It seems the X-Men are going to begin making their way towards television sooner rather than later.

According to industry production database My Entertainment World, the pilot for Matt Nix's X-Men television series will begin production in Dallas, Texas. The production is being done under the working title "Heaven."

My Entertainment Earth also lists the pilot as having the official title Hellfire. This is likely just a holdover from proposed Hellfire Club television series that was scrapped in favor of Matt Nix's still untitled take on the X-Men universe.

Bryan Singer will direct the X-Men television pilot. Singer has directed four X-Men movies: X-Men, X2: X-Men United, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and X-Men: Apocalypse.

Details about the X-Men television remain scarce. The basic plot is that it will follow two human parents and their mutants child when they are forced to go on the run from an anti-mutant government. The family ends up in contact with an underground mutant resistance network.

No specific X-Men characters have been named for the series, but Nix and Singer have both implied in interviews that the series will include some recognizable characters.

If it is greenlit to series, Nix's X-Men project will be the second to come to television, joining Legion, the series created by Noah Hawley. Legion debuts this Wednesday on FX.
