Samuel L. Jackson Destroys James Corden In Rap Battle

Samuel L. Jackson is known for his acting skills, but he showed off his rap skills on The Late Late Show with James Corden.

Jackson was out to promote his latest film, The Hitman's Bodyguard and participated in a "Drop the Mic" rap battle with the show's host. The battle included several lyrics referencing Jackson's Marvel Cinematic Universe role as Nick Fury.

Corden was the first to bring up Fury, rapping, "The only time you get applause is when you show up after credits" in reference to Fury's world-building post-credits surprise appearance from the first phase of the MCU. The shot was somewhat undercut by Corden then begging Jackson to make him an Avenger.

Corden's next verse included the line,"Best part of Wonder Woman is Nick Fury wasn't in it," to which Jackman replied in his own verse with the line, "I don't want to be that guy, but I gots to be. Nick Fury is Marvel, Wonder Woman's DC."

Jackman even slipped in a reference to his other superhero movie role as Mr. Glass, saying, "And you're lying if you say you didn't love Unbreakable," referencing the M. Night Shamalyan film.

Jackman will next return as Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe co-starring opposite Brie Larson in Captain Marvel in 2019. The film is a period piece set in the 1990s and may reveal how Fury lost one of his eyes.

Jackson will also reprise his role as Mr. Glass in Glass, the third film in the Unbreakable series, which was announced shortly after Shyamalan's Split was revealed to be a stealth sequel to the original movie.

Jackson co-stars with Ryan Reynold in The Hitman's Bodyguard. The world's top protection agent is called upon to guard the life of his mortal enemy, one of the world's most notorious hit men. The relentless bodyguard and manipulative assassin have been on the opposite end of the bullet for years and are thrown together for a wildly outrageous 24 hours. During their journey from England to the Hague, they encounter high-speed car chases, outlandish boat escapades and a merciless Eastern European dictator who is out for blood.

The Hitman's Bodyguard opens in theaters on Aug. 18.
