Amy Pascal On Whether Future Spider-Man Spin-Offs Could Join The MCU

When it comes to Spider-Man movie rumors, fans have been put through the ringer this month. Marvel Studios and Sony have already teamed up to bring Peter Parker into the MCU, but back-and-forth between the companies continues to mar the status of Sony's Spider-Man spin-offs. For now, those films will not be tied to the MCU in any way, but producer Amy Pascal isn't sure if things will stay like that.

Recently, the Sony producer sat down with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to talk Spider-Man: Homecoming with Fandango. The lengthy interview covers a wide-range of topics, but Pascal's talk about future Spider-Man spin-offs has already got fans buzzing.

When asked if Pascal may ask Feige to have Marvel Studios make Sony's spin-offs one day, the producer had this to say:

"I don't know about that but if I could work with Kevin all the time, I would," she answered. "Kevin has been working with us on Spider-Man movies from the very beginning. He didn't open his mouth for the first four years when he worked for Avi [Arad], and little did I know what was underneath all that."

For now, Sony's Spider-Man spin-offs will be totally unrelated to the MCU despite the universes sharing Marvel Universe characters. The studio is moving forward with Venom's production while Silver & Black wades through development. In recent weeks, conflicting reports from Pascal and Feige left fans confused about Spider-Man's MCU legacy, but the producers have since cleared everything up. In fact, Pascal told Fandango, "All the characters are a part of the Marvel comic book universe. They're all interrelated in that universe. Spider-Man is now a part of the MCU, as he was created to be in the beginning. The other things that Sony is doing, which are characters from the Marvel comic universe, are independent separate franchises, both Venom and Silver Sable and Black Cat."

There's no telling whether Marvel Studios would want to bring Venom or Black Cat to its expansive world. The comapny is knee-deep in work on Avengers: Infinity War, so it seems unlikely any immediate attention could be brought to Sony's characters. Still, if Marvel Studios has the chance to snag some of its characters back, Feige might be willing to work overtime to make such a deal happen. After all, it isn't like that kind of deal comes around very often.
