Spider-Man Homecoming: First Look At Web Wings

Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures have released a first look teaser for tomorrow's unveiling of the Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer.

The sneak peek reveals a first look at a "minor upgrade" Tony Stark added to Peter Parker's Spider-Man costume: web-wings.

Well, maybe not exactly wings. It isn't like he can flap them to rise up into the air and take flight. It's more like netting that lets him soar, or glide. Like a squirrel. Squirrel-man?

The webs as underarm netting on Spider-Man's costume was a design feature dating back to Spidey's very first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15 to the earliest days of Spider-Man history. Steve Ditko, Spider-Man's co-creator and original artist, drew the webbing throughout his entire run on the character in the 1960s. The webbing was minimized and eventually removed from the costume altogether by Ditko's successor, John Romita.

Take a look at Spider-Man: Homecoming's costume webbing below.

The ability to glide through the air may come in for Spider-Man when he takes on the Vulture, played by Michael Keaton. The Vulture is the first villain known to appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming and, as his name implies, is a winged villain who prefers aerial combat.
