Spider-Man Homecoming: Peter's Best Friend Is A Gamer

01/21/2017 02:25 pm EST

Tom Holland was a celebrity presenter for Dell at this year's Consumer Electronics Show. In the midst of shoring up what seems to be an important product placement deal between Sony Pictures and Dell, Holland also revealed a bit about Peter Parker's best friend in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Holland explained during his CES 2017 presentation that Spider-Man's mentor, Iron Man, presents him with a high-tech new suit that Peter isn't entirely sure what to make of. Good for Peter than that he has friends.

"Luckily enough, my best friend in the movie, Ned Leeds, is a complete gamer," Holland says, before explaining how Parker and Leeds use a Dell Inspiron to examine the new suit more closely.

Some of this statement may rub Spider-Man fans the wrong way. Peter Parker is usually depicted as a pretty brilliant scientific mind even a young age. For him to be so baffled by Iron Man's suit seems a bit out of character but still within the realm of reason.

That Ned Leeds is a gamer doesn't tell us much about his character either. There are few people who don't play video games, be it mobile or otherwise, in modern society. However, Holland's description seems to imply that games are more than just a simple pastime for Leeds. It's unclear how being a gamer at any level would help him understand Tony Stark's Spider-Man technology.
