Tom Holland "Over The Moon" After Spider-Man: Homecoming Screening

06/05/2017 04:54 pm EDT

Last year, Tom Holland suited up as one of Marvel's biggest superheroes of all-time. The British star introduced Peter Parker to the MCU in Captain America: Civil War, and he will soon step out as the hero again in a standalone movie. Spider-Man: Homecoming is slated to hit theaters in July, but Holland has already gotten a sneak-peek at the movie. So, don't worry - the actor is genuinely pleased with the film.

Yesterday, Holland dished about his early screening of Spider-Man: Homecoming when he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Sitting next to Robert Downey Jr., Holland told the late-night host he was able to watch the movie a few weeks ago.

"I saw it about a month ago," Holland admitted.

"You know when you revise for an exam and you feel like you crushed it, but the longer you wait for the results, the more you think you ruined it?" he continued. "So walking into the screening, I was like, 'This is gonna be awful, I'm gonna hate it,' and leaving I was over the moon. I loved it."

Kimmel was quick to agree with Holland. The host was lucky enough to catch a "rough cut" of the film sometime ago, and Kimmel had only praise for the film. The comedian said Spider-Man: Homecoming was the hero's best film yet, and Kimmel even said it took him back to his childhood days of reading Marvel comics.

As the premiere of Spider-Man: Homecoming draws near, fans are eager to hear candid reviews of the film. The press has yet to sample the film for itself, but reviews will be quick to come out when embargoes lift. Fans are hoping Spider-Man: Homecoming will woo critics given the film's groundbreaking MCU setting. All of Sony Pictures' previous films about the wall-crawler took place in a separate universe; Holland is the first actor to web over into Marvel's extensive cinematic universe, so hype for the hero has never been higher.
