Robert Downey Jr. On Why Tom Holland Is Perfect As Spider-Man

07/02/2017 05:04 pm EDT

In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tony Stark takes a young Peter Parker under his wing and it seems like Robert Downey Jr. couldn't have asked for a better protege.

Downey believes that Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland is the perfect choice to lead the latest reboot of the Spider-Man movie franchise.

"Tom is the perfect man for the job," Downey tells News.com.au. "He's enthusiastic, bright and gifted, a very physically talented guy by virtue of his dance and acrobatic background. He has just the right combination of elements required to bring a new take on the character."

Holland follows in the footsteps of Tobey Maguire, who starred in Sam Raimi's original trilogy of Spider-Man movies, and Andrew Garfield, who played Spider-Man in the two Amazing Spider-Man reboot movies.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be the first Spider-Man movie produced jointly by Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures since both studios reached an agreement to work together on the character's films. Holland debuted in the role of Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, where he was recruited by Tony Stark onto Team Iron Man to take on Team Captain America.

Spider-Man: Homecoming currently has a 4.14 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating. Let us know how excited you are about Spider-Man: Homecoming by giving the movie your own personal ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating below.

In Spider-Man: Homecoming, thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, young Peter Parker returns home to live with his Aunt May.
