Spider-Man: Homecoming Is Dominating Social Media

07/03/2017 10:28 pm EDT

After much anticipation, Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to finally hit theaters this week. But according to a recent report from the media measurement service ComScore, the film is already a huge focus online.

The recent report via Variety of ComScore's PreAct service revealed that Homecoming generated 345,000 new social media conversations in the past week.

These impressive numbers can be attributed to several different things surrounding Homecoming's upcoming release. Initial reactions and reviews for the film were released, as well as plenty of cast interviews and other teases about the film.

Two viral videos promoting Homecoming were released as well - one where Homecoming stuntman Chris Silcox surprises unsuspecting coffee shop customers, as well as Tom Holland's memorable entrance at the film's Los Angeles premiere.

Second on the ComScore list was Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, which unveiled its first trailer earlier this week and earned over 83,000 new conversations. Upcoming releases such as Avengers: Infinity War, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Deadpool 2 also made their way onto the list.

Homecoming's consistent social media presence is certainly a good sign, when paired with the film's Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. You can check out ComicBook's own review of the film - which calls it 'the best Spider-Man yet' - here.

You can find the official synopsis for Homecoming below, which has a 4.13 out of 5 on ComicBook.com's anticipation rankings.

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging superhero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

The cast includes Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, with Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr. It also includes Jon Favreau, Martin Starr, Kenneth Choi, Michael Mando, Selenis Leyva, Isabella Amara, Jorge Lendeborg, Jr., JJ Totah, and Hannibal Buress.
