Spider-Man: Homecoming Director Details Vulture's Connection To The Avengers

Marvel fans, you will want to set some early alarms for tomorrow morning. News dropped today that the folks behind Spider-Man: Homecoming were gearing up to release a new trailer, and the video could come out anytime tomorrow. However, for some lucky fans, they did not have to wait any longer to see the coveted clip thanks to Cinema Con. Not long ago, the event was able to stream the trailer for convention attendees, and ComicBook's Brandon Davis wrote up a description of the footage for all to see.

However, before the reveal got underway, the director of Spider-Man: Homecoming had a few things to say. Jon Watts took spoke to the crowd about how he envisioned Queen's famous vigilante fitting into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and The Wrap got a chance to even speak with the director about the film's villain.

During a one-on-one conversation, Watts took time to tell the site just how the Vulture relates back to the Avengers. And, for the creator, he wanted to make sure the Vulture gave fans a down-home view of villainy in a world where superhero reign supreme.

"In the same way that Peter Parker is the ground-level eyes through which we see the Marvel universe, I thought we could see Keaton's character as the ground level of what the villain's side of that universe could be. And that was really exciting," the director told the site.

"Think of all the crazy junk that's been left behind from all the previous Marvel stories. Who cleans up? Who cleans up after the Chitauri monster? Is it regular guys who already did these kinds of jobs? Is it an agency who takes care of it?"

Based on the description, it seems like the Vulture, or Adrian Toomes, used to work for a company known as Damage Control. The firm is canonical to the Marvel Universe and acts as a resource to help cities clean up after heroes go at it on their streets. However, it looks like the Avengers swept the baddie's livelihood from under his feet - and the Vulture is not going to take that sitting down.

Instead, he'll take it to the sky. Have you seen the man's wings?

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

The cast includes Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, with Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr. It also includes Jon Favreau, Martin Starr, Kenneth Choi, Michael Mando, Selenis Leyva, Isabella Amara, Jorge Lendeborg, Jr., JJ Totah, and Hannibal Buress.
