Marvel Confirms Spider-Man For Avengers 4, Homecoming Sequel

04/18/2017 06:38 pm EDT

If you have had concerns about Spider-Man's future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you can breathe a short sigh of relief now. Over the last month, conflicting reports have surfaced which indicated that Peter Parker might not stick around the Avengers for long. However, during a press gathering earlier today, the president of Marvel Studios stressed the company still plenty of plans in store of the web-slinging hero.

So, for now, it looks like Tom Holland's take on the vigilante is secure.

ComicBook's Brandon Davis was in attendance at the press event, and it was there that Kevin Feige said Spider-Man is confirmed to appear in the fourth Avengers film as well as a sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. The character will get his first solo outing this summer with the first Homecoming feature, and Holland is also part of the extensive cast of Avengers: Infinity War.

However, it does not look like Marvel is extending its reach to other Spider-Man spinoff features. At the event, Feige said the Avengers film and Homecoming sequel are all Marvel Studios has planned with Sony Pictures. Well, for now, that is. Feige also said Marvel Studios has no part in the upcoming features starring Venom, Silver Sable, and Black Cat.

Spider-Man: Homecoming currently has a 4.10 out of 5 ComicBook User Anticipation Rating, making it the sixth most anticipated upcoming comic book movie among ComicBook.com readers. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, young Peter Parker (Tom Holland) returns home to live with his Aunt May. Peter must soon put his powers to the test when the evil Vulture emerges to threaten everything that he holds dear.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is directed by Jon Watts, from a screenplay by Jonathan M. Goldstein & John Francis Daley and Watts & Christopher Ford and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers, and stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr.

Spider-Man: Homecoming opens in theaters July 7, 2017.
