Spider-Man: Homecoming's Tom Holland Wants To Take On Venom

04/03/2017 01:28 pm EDT

In March, Sony Pictures officially put a Venom movie on its release schedule. While Sony hasn't revealed many official details, the rumor mill concerning the Venom film is already churning.

It started with the far-fetched idea that Life is a secret prequel to Venom but then moved on to the more credible idea that Venom is being planned as an R-Rated movie that would kick off Sony's own shared Marvel movie universe separate from the Marvel Studios' Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sony's Marvel universe would include the planned Black Cat and Silver Sable movie, but not Spider-Man himself since Spidey is currently appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Tom Holland is preparing to star in the first Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming, but he's more than ready to take on Venom after that. During a set visit that took place prior to the Venom movie getting a release date, Holland was simply asked which Spider-Man villain he'd most like to go up against.

"Oh, well I love Doc Ock," Holland said. "I think Spider-Man 2 is one of the greatest superhero movies ever made. But I think Venom is someone I'd love to kick the crap out of one day."

Whether or not Holland ever gets his wish remains to be seen, but the initial reports about the planned Sony-Marvel universe did say those plans still could possibly change, so nothing is for certain just yet.
