Stan Lee To Participate In World Record Attempt

Iconic Marvel creator Stan Lee might be slowing his appearance schedule over the next year, but he wants to break a record before 2016 finally concludes.

Lee is currently attending the Marvelous Nerd Year's Eve Expo, and he will be participating in a group effort to break a Guinness world record later today (via Star-Telegram). A large gathering of people dressed as comic characters will be taking place at 6:30 pm at the Sheraton hotel on 400 N. Olive St. The current record for most people dressed as comic characters stands at 1,784 people, which was set at Salt Lake City Comic Con on September 25, 2015.

The only requirements are that the character must be from a comic book and you must have already purchased admission to the Marvelous Nerd Year's Eve event with the world record add-on ($25). That add-on will come with a t-shirt and a photo of the group.

While Lee was at the event he spoke with TulsaWorld about a variety of topics, including his simple but effective advice.

"Gee, I don't know. I'm not that great at advice. I think the most important thing really is every man — and a lot of women — work for a living and you spend most of your time working. If you can be lucky enough to do the kind of work that you enjoy, I think that helps so much because then you feel you are not working. You are just playing. You are having fun. You are doing what you like to do. I think if you have a job that you don't like, that's terrible. But, as I say, if you like what you do, I think that's the best situation."

Hopefully, he and all the other participants can end 2016 with a record breaking achievement.
