Stan Lee just turned the big 94, and while he shows no signs of slowing down he only has one simple birthday wish.
The comics icon who co-created characters like The X-Men, Spider-Man, and the Fantastic Four revealed his wish in a recent interview with TulsaWorld during a visit to Marvelous Nerd Year's Eve. When asked what his birthday wish was, Lee said: "To have a 95th".
Lee has always seemed enthusiastic about working in the comics and entertainment industry, and that industry has come a long way over the last few decades. When asked if he would go back and do anything different, Lee said "No. What we did years ago was pretty good. But (the film successes) had to take until Marvel became under new management who was willing to do the movies. We were run by people who didn't want to do movies. They didn't want to do television. I remember I said to one publisher that we had, I said, 'Why don't we put our characters on the screen like Superman.' And he said, 'Well, what if the movie isn't a hit? They'll stop buying the books.' That was the way they thought. So it took until Disney came along, bless Disney."
The characters that Lee helped create have been accepted into the mainstream like never before thanks to their motion picture exposure, and it seems Lee is very appreciative of what Disney has been able to do.
It was thought that Lee would conclude his tour schedule at the end of this year, but it seems he will still take the occasional appointment. He will be appearing next at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo in April.
