Not long ago, Fox finally gifted fans with a look at its upcoming X-Men series, The Gifted. The network dropped a teaser trailer for the show, and it gives audiences a look at some of Marvel's fan-favorite mutants. And, in one brief scene, fans are given a glimpse of Polaris in all her powerful glory.

In the still below, fans can see Emma Dumont in-character as the X-Men. The star, who is known for her roles in Pretty Little Liars, was brought in to play Lorna Dane for The Gifted. According to Fox, the mutant is said to be "a strong-willed, brave and loyal mutant who has the ability to manipulate magnetism."

If you are not familiar with Polaris, then you can catch up on her interesting X-Men history. The character debuted back in October 1968 in X-Men #49. Arnold Drake, Don Heck, Werner Roth, and Jim Steranko were the creative minds behind the character's creation. In the Marvel Universe, Polaris is the biological daughter of Magneto. The mutant is able to control magnetism much like Magneto, but her heritage wasn't confirmed until 2003 with Uncanny X-Men #431. In the comics, Polaris is also considered to be the de facto love interest of Havok/Alex Summer.

The Gifted was developed by Matt Nix who wrote the series' pilot episode. X-Men movies veteran Bryan Singer will direct. Nix and Singer, along with Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, Jim Chory, and Jeph Loeb will all serve as executive producers. The pilot stars Redford, Stephen Moyer, Amy Acker, Jamie Chung, Sean Teale, Natalie Alyn Lind, Emma Dumont, Percy Hynes White, and Coby Bell.

"The Gifted" will be the second X-Men television project to enter production following the drama Legion which has been renewed for a second season.
