Thor: Ragnarok Will Have Plenty Of Deleted Scenes

At last year's San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios shocked and surprised the attendees of their Hall H presentation by screening a short from Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi that showed fans where Thor was during the epic events of Captain America: Civil War. The sequence was full of huge laughs, showing off Chris Hemsworth's comedic talent and the extent of Waititi's wit.

Footage from the upcoming Thor film has already promised this to be one of Marvel Studios' funniest, but not all the funny bits will make the final cut. Luckily, Waititi promised those scenes, in addition to many others, would be available on the home video release.

"There will be a lot of deleted scenes. Great scenes. Funny, funny moments that—you can't have it all," the director revealed to Collider. "As I say you gotta kill those puppies, so we had to take some of those things out. Those scenes will exist so people will be able to see them."

With many of Marvel's films clocking in at over two hours long, with some edging closer 150 minutes, it's easy to see how audiences can gain super hero fatigue. In addition to the sheer volume of super hero movies coming out every year, the length of each film can sometimes make it a chore to sit through. Waititi promises that won't be the case with Ragnarok.

"The cut right now, I reckon it's about 100 minutes," the director details. "It's not gonna be a very, very long film. I think that stories are better when you leave them wanting more, and this film moves at a clip, it's got stuff happening all the time. I think people are still gonna feel exhausted by the end, they've been on this big journey and stuff, so I don't think we need the film to be three hours."

You can be the judge of the film's length when Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3.

Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first, he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!

Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi with a screenplay by Eric Pearson. The film stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki. They are joined by Cate Blanchett (Hela), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Karl Urban (Skurge), Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Sam Neill, Ray Stevenson (Volstagg), Tadanobu Asano (Hogun), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk), and Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Stephen Strange).
