Marvel Studios has released the first official poster for Thor: Ragnarok.

The poster was released to coincide with the debut of the first Thor: Ragnarok trailer, which appeared online this morning.

Thor: Ragnarok draws inspiration from classic Thor stories as well as from "Planet Hulk." The movie will see Thor forced to battle the Hulk in a gladiatorial arena without the power of Mjolnir.

The film will also be the first Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance for several classic Thor characters, including Hela (Cate Blanchett), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), and Skurge the Executioner (Karl Urban).

Director Taika Waititi has described Thor: Ragnarok as being a kind of cosmic road trip movie with Thor driving and the Hulk in the passenger seat. Neither character has been seen since the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Thor left with the intent of investigating the dark premonitions of Asgard that flooded his mind, which likely allude to the awakening of Hela, a long dormant Asgardian evil. The Hulk, on the other hand, was last seen drifting towards space, having felt somewhat betrayed by Black Widow and the Avengers.

In Thor: Ragnarok currently a 4.11 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating, making it the seventh most anticipated upcoming comic book movie among ComicBook.com readers.
