In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it can be hard to keep up with who's who. Heroes inundate the franchise, and moviegoers can lose sight of what all is happening when Captain America, Iron Man, and even Doctor Strange are vying for ticket sales. Marvel Studios has pushed its various franchises out to the public with deceptive ease, but Thor continues to garner complaints over its shifty tone. The first two standalone films of the franchise were hit-or-miss with fans, but the third installment is looking to change that. Taika Waititi will soon see his iteration of the Thunder God brought to life in Thor: Ragnarok.

And, now, the director is taking time to address the pre-emptive controversy over his movie's comedic tone.

When Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters, fans should expect to see a more comedic side of the Asgardian. Waititi has stressed the film features a more quippy version of Thor, and fans have reacted differently to the news online. Over on Twitter, a fan asked the director how he felt about fans who were angered by film's promised comedic tone. To no one's surprise, the well-worded

"Sounds like they need to laugh," Waititi answered.

Of course, the debate was reignited within the fandom recently thanks to Tom Hiddleston. Not long ago, Fandango published an interview they held with the actor, and it was there that Hiddleston said Thor: Ragnarok houses the funniest characterization of the hero to-date.

"I can confidently say this will be the funniest depiction of the character of Thor that you've ever seen," Hiddleston stressed. "I personally have known for almost 10 years that Chris Hemsworth is hilarious. I think this go-round will be his chance."

Are you excited to see what could be Hiddleston's final portrayal of Loki? Let us know with your vote in our Anticipation Rankings! It is currently ranked at #9 on all of ComicBook.
