How Loki Is Responsible For Hela in 'Thor: Ragnarok'

The fury of Hela (Cate Blanchett) is coming for the Marvel Cinematic Universe in November's Thor: Ragnarok - and it sounds like a certain trickster could be to blame.

During a visit to the Thor: Ragnarok set in Australia, ComicBook.com was one of the outlets that spoke with one of the film's producers, Brad Winderbaum. And as he revealed, the act of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) assuming the identity of Odin (Anthony Hopkins) in the end of Thor: The Dark World had larger ramifications than fans might believe.

"[When] we left Loki," Winderbaum explained, "he kind of achieved his goals, he became the king of Asgard, and he is ruling that place. And what we come to learn, what Thor (Chris Hemsworth) comes to learn early on, is that there's a lot of terrible things in the cosmos that just shouldn't be that way. And we learn that Odin was doing far more than it seemed on the surface to keep the universe safe."

According to Winderbaum, Loki's unawareness of these terrible things sort of left the door wide open for an attack - especially from the incredibly powerful Hela.

"There were all these threats that he had quelled or was keeping at bay, using his strength and power to do so, that Loki was completely unprepared for." Winderbaum revealed. "So he becomes the King of Asgard, everything is great, it's a good party. But he failed to realize the threats that were just over the horizon, Hela being the biggest and most terrible one of all."

With Asgard now vulnerable to Hela's wrath, it sounds like the new 'Team Thor' will have quite a challenge on their hands.

Thor: Ragnarok opens in theaters on November 3, 2017.
