Thor Will Meet His Personal Hero In 'Thor: Ragnarok'

To Marvel fans, Thor may be the biggest hero out there, but there is someone the Asgardian looks up to himself. However, the hero's hero may not be the person you were expecting.

ComicBook's Brandon Davis had a chance to visit the set of Thor: Ragnarok, and it was there Chris Hemsworth revealed Thor's personal hero. If you think the guy favors role models like Odin or Sif, then think again. When it comes to idols, Thor is a massive fanboy of Valkyrie.

"It's like Thor's meeting his hero," Hemsworth admitted. "He's absolutely smitten by her because of her history being Valkyrie and all that. She's also this beautiful woman, so he's kind of caught off-guard. She could have him if she wanted. I think he hasn't come up against that very often."

Obviously, the dynamic between Thor and Valkyrie will be different than the one the hero shared with his former flame Jane Foster. The previous romance saw Jane act as a confidant or even damsel-in-distress during its weaker points. Valkyrie will be a match for Thor in every way, and Tessa Thompson says the characters will be a team.

"Valkyrie becomes sort of a part of this team," the actress explained. "She's hanging out on another planet called Sakaar. She is sort of an ex-pat. She is no longer with her tribe of Valkyrie anymore, and she meets Thor and Hulk and share a similar goal that they do. They become friends and kind of teammates in a way."

Fans are excited to see another stand-out heroine enter the MCU through Thompson. Valkyrie has a lengthy history in the Marvel Universe. The character is known best for being the head of Odin's own military squad. The elite warrior heads up the Valkyrior, and the Valkyrie is the team's head. The heroine has assumed many different names over the years, and she has also acted as a longtime companion to Thor. The pair's on-screen debut is one which Marvel fans have been waiting on for years, so the pressure is on Thor: Ragnarok to do the duo justice.
