Thor: Ragnarok Star Tessa Thompson On If Valkyrie Will Be In Avengers: Infinity War

03/14/2017 07:41 pm EDT

After two Thor films and two Avengers films, Marvel Studios is finally bringing one of their greatest Asgardian heroes into the cinematic fold with Thor: Ragnarok.

The Valkyries have a long and storied lore in the comics—based on Norse mythology, of course—and now Tessa Thompson of Westworld will be portraying the enigmatic warrior Brunnhilde on the big screens.

Valkyrie will be kicking ass alongside Thor, Hulk, and hopefully Doctor Strange in the new film, giving us a mystical, gladiatorial team up against the Grandmaster in his arena on the planet Sakaar. It's a true mash-up of stories, taking the mythical elements of the story of Ragnarok and blending them with the epic themes and locations of Planet Hulk.

But now that Valkyrie is being introduced into he MCU proper, will she be playing a part in the greater storyline? You know, the one where they have to go punch Thanos before he gets his hands on all of the Infinity Stones?

Both Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy teams will be playing parts in Avengers: Infinity War, as will Doctor Strange and Spider-Man, but will Valkyrie be involved?

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Valkyrie's actor Thompson seemed hopeful.

"You never know where people will pop up. In the next phase, the hope is to find ways to interweave all these characters, and certainly with Infinity War, those are the culmination of a lot of work since Iron Man," Thompson said. "She's part of the tapestry now. For me, it's exciting to join at a time with young actors like Brie Larson and Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan. We're all hopefully going to meet in one of these movies."

It wasn't a yes, it wasn't a no, but it definitely erred on the positive side. Those Marvel Studios actors really know how to toe the line between "hype" and "telling secrets."

Everything we hear about Thompson's portrayal of Valkyrie gets us more and more excited for Thor: Ragnarok. Let's hope the character lives up to it when the film premieres.

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters November 7.
