Venom #6: Here's How Eddie Brock Gets The Suit Back

04/19/2017 06:57 pm EDT

The symbiote has had quite the journey over the past few years, but many look back fondly at its time with Eddie Brock. Brock was the one who inherited the suit after Spider-Man rejected it, and ironically it's Spider-Man who plays a big part in him getting it back.

Spoilers incoming for Venom #6, so if you haven't read it yet you've been warned.

There's no one who knows the symbiote's strengths and weaknesses like Eddie Brock, and it's a big part of why he was hired for the bureau in the first place. That's why when Lee Price took to jacking a helicopter and destroying city streets the bureau sent Brock and a team of soldiers to take him down. Thing is, he was already in the middle of a fight when they got there, with none other than Spidey himself.

The fight wasn't going well really, but Brock had a plan. The plan was essential to use Spidey as bait, something Spidey wasn't exactly keen on but knew would work. Spidey leaps in and asks the symbiote to come back to him, which starts a tug of war between Price and the suit. It fights with Lee for a good long while, but ultimately the suit craving of someone like Flash Thompson drives him towards Spider-Man. It's here where they hit the suit with sonic-based weapons, which enables them to capture it.

The suit's going to be flung into space when Eddie goes to check on it. It's here he reveals to a guard that he was absent from the final fight because he wanted it to trust him. When the guard questions his words, Brock knocks him out and takes the suit once more, with a splash page declaring "We're Back!" You can see the spoiler images in the gallery.

Spider-Man doesn't know his old sparring partner has the symbiote back, but he's going to find out very soon in next month's Venom #150, which will return the series to its original numbering. It also remains to be seen whether the symbiote does, in fact, trust Eddie Brock. Since parting ways with Flash Thompson, the suit is very much opposed to killing and aspires to much more heroic than in days past. Brock has gone both ways in that regard, so only time will tell which side of Eddie Brock fans will get to see.
