Will We Get A Moon Knight Movie From Marvel?

It seems like each and every one of Marvel's comic properties is being rumored to get some kind of live-action adaptation in the future.

With the success of Marvel's street-level heroes Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage on Netflix, one of the most talked-about adaptation rumors centers around the caped-vigilante Moon Knight.

As a big part of the Marvel Knights series, Moon Knight fits in well with the likes of Daredevil and the other Defenders. With that in mind, a Netflix series for the character has been what fans have asked for. What if, however, the studio decided to go in a different direction?

Moon Knight isn't a huge property like Captain America or Spider-Man, but he does have a loyal following similar to Doctor Strange and Guardians Of The Galaxy - both of which were box office successes. The film would need a grittier style than the other Marvel movies to date, but that's not out of the question. If a Moon Knight movie did get some movement, one of Marvel's most popular directors would be behind it 100%.

James Gunn, writer and director of Guardians Of The Galaxy, has stated that he is a huge fan of Moon Knight. He's also let fans know that he'd love to make a movie about the character, but he just doesn't have the time to make it happen.

When talking with fans on Twitter, Gunn stated that he has a great idea for a Moon Knight movie.

While Gunn's backing is a huge step in getting the movie to screen, it's still an unlikely project. Moon Knight's style is a much better fit for the Marvel TV Universe on Netflix, and that's probably where he belongs. Seeing Moon Knight alongside - or opposite - Daredevil and The Punisher in a violent series would be the adaptation fans would enjoy most.

If Moon Knight gets the live-action treatment, it's likely to be on the small screen.

A slew of characters from Netflix's solo series are set to star in Marvel's The Defenders, including Karen Page, Misty Knight, Foggy Nelson, Pat Walker, Stick, and Claire Temple.

Marvel's Daredevil seasons 1 and 2, Jessica Jones season 1, and Luke Cage season 1 are all available on Netflix. Iron Fist will premiere on March 17, 2017. The Defenders expected later in the year. The Punisher does not have a release date yet.
