The Gifted Viral Site Unlocks Mutant Underground Messages

The battle for mutant rights is about to begin.

Fox has launched a new viral website for the upcoming X-Men television series The Gifted. The website appears as a page for the Sentinel Services security firm that invites individuals to have their DNA tested for the mutant gene.

However, if someone visiting the site tries to actually sign up for testing they are interrupted by a video from one of the members of the mutant underground: leader Thunderbird (Blair Redford), Blink (Jamie Chung), Polaris (Emma Dumont), or Eclipse (Sean Teale). The member of the resistance warns against registering your DNA with Sentinel Services and their videos conclude with the hashtag #MutantUnite.

The viral site is part of a larger marketing push based on the Sentinel Services organization. The Gifted will have an activation on site at Comic-Con International: San Diego and convention attendees can have their DNA tested for mutant genes on site.

The Gifted will have its first Comic-Con International: San Diego panel in Ballroom 20 on Friday. The show's cast and producers will be in attendance and con-goers will be the first to see an exclusive sneak peek at the new series.

The Gifted will be present throughout other areas of the convention in the form of a "gene testing" site where convention attendees can find out whether they're a mutant and advertising throughout downtown San Diego.

The Gifted tells the emotional story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family seeks help from an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.

Set within the "X-Men" universe, the series stars Stephen Moyer (SHOTS FIRED, "True Blood"), Amy Acker ("Person of Interest"), Natalie Alyn Lind (GOTHAM) and Percy Hynes White ("Night at the Museum 3") as the STRUCKER family. Also featured in the series are Sean Teale ("Reign") as ECLIPSE/MARCOS DIAZ; Jamie Chung (GOTHAM) as BLINK/CLARICE FERGUSON; Emma Dumont ("Aquarius") as POLARIS/LORNA DANE; Blair Redford ("Satisfaction") as THUNDERBIRD/JOHN PROUDSTAR; and Coby Bell ("Burn Notice") as Sentinel Services Agent JACE TURNER. The series is written by Matt Nix ("Burn Notice"), directed by Bryan Singer (the "X-Men" franchise") and executive-produced by Nix, Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg ("X-Men: Apocalypse," "X-Men: Days of Future Past") and Marvel's Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.

The Gifted premieres on Oct. 2 on Fox with a pilot episode directed by veteran X-Men movies director Bryan Singer.
