Billy Dee Williams Has A Feeling He'll Show Up In Future Star Wars Movies

When the first cast photo for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released, featuring the reassembled cast of the original film, many fans were bothered by the absence of Billy Dee Williams, who played Lando Calrissian in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. While Lando apparently won't be showing up in The Force Awakens, Williams says fans shouldn't be too upset, and hints that he may show up in future Star Wars sequels.
"Yeah, people were pretty upset about it. But I uh...I may very well...I have a feeling I'm going to show up," Williams tells Cinelinx. The website clarifies that Williams is speaking about the sequel trilogy as a whole, and not The Force Awakens specifically. "There's nothing I can really discuss about it at this stage.
"People think of me as the original cast, but I didn't come in until the second movie. I did Empire and then I did Return of the Jedi, but I came in after everyone else was introduced...So I think they're probably proceeding in that way.
"I can't imagine them not bringing Lando back. But we'll see, I don't know."
Williams recently reprised his role in animated form when Lando appeared on an episode of the Star Wars Rebels animated series. We'll have to wait and see if a live action reprisal will follow.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens December 18.
