Daniel Craig Said To Be Persuaded Into Reprising James Bond

For some time now, fans of the James Bond films have wondered if 007 would be getting a new face in the aftermath of SPECTRE. The last movie saw Daniel Craig reprise his role as Bond, but the British star didn't seem keen on taking another go at the iconic role during press rounds. Since momentum for the previous film faded, various rumors have circled suggesting stars like Tom Hiddleston or Idris Elba may be eyeing the role, but Craig's future involvement with the franchise has been quiet. That is, until now.

If new reports are to be believed, then Craig may have been persuaded to give James Bond one more go to celebrate the franchise's 25th anniversary. According to the New York Post's Page Six (via IGN), multiple sources have told the column that Craig is being wooed hard. Producer Barbara Broccoli has reportedly "just about persuaded Daniel Craig to do one more Bond movie."

The publication went on to suggest the turnabout may be due to Craig's work on an off-Broadway take on Othello which Broccoli produced. One source indicated that talks are moving in the right direction. "They have a script — screenwriting duo Neal Purvis and Robert Wade [who wrote previous James Bond movies] are writing and they'll go into production as soon as Daniel is ready to commit."

As for Craig's possibile replacements, Page Six writes that Broccoli isn't keen on seeing one British actor jump in. Apparently, the producer finds Hiddleston "a bit too smug and not tough enough to play James Bond."

Of course, many diehard fans of the James Bond franchise may have been expecting reports such as this one. Craig's attitude towards the iconic franchise has softened with time, and a co-star of his did admit she felt like the star would return. Naomie Harris voiced her own opinion about the debacle and said there was a "good chance" he will continue with the spy gig.

"I really don't think that they've moved on from Daniel. I think there's a very good chance that Daniel will come back. I think it's way too early to be thinking about other people at this stage."

The James Bond films have all been well received. The last two films carry mostly high scores on ComicBook.com's composite rankings with Skyfall landing at an 84.10 and Spectre with a 70.53.

Bond 25 has no director attached at the moment. Neal Purvis and Robert Wade will pen the script.
