Did J.J. Abrams Give Away The Opening Line Of Star Wars: The Force Awakens?

J.J. Abrams has managed to keep whatever the big mystery is about Luke Skywalker under wrap, but the secretive director just might have given away what the first line of Star Wars: The Force Awakens is.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Abrams revealed the first spoken word of the film is "This." Not much for fans to go on. But this weekend during press interviews, Abrams revealed that the second spoken word of the film is "will." What a difference a second word makes.

While Abrams said he wouldn't reveal the third word, he probably doesn't need to. Given that Star Wars: The Force Awakens wants to connect itself to the original trilogy more than the prequels, it wouldn't be surprising if the first line of the film is a classic Star Wars line. And it just so happens there is a very famous Star Wars line that starts with "This will."

In Star Wars IV: A New Hope, Darth Vader tells Grand Moff Tarkin, "This will be a day long remembered. It has seen the end of Kenobi. It will soon see the end of the rebellion." Could the opening line of Star Wars: The Force Awakens be "This will be a day long remembered"?

In one of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailers, Kylo Ren promises to finish what Darth Vader started. Given Ren's fondness of Vader, we could also probably guess that Ren might be the one to deliver the classic Vader line.

Now, this is pure speculation (look away if you consider speculation to be spoilers), but what if the opening couple lines are, "This will be a day long remembered. It has seen the end of Luke Skywalker. It will soon see the end of the resistance."

Wouldn't the death of Luke Skywalker be an incredible way to start Star Wars: The Force Awakens? There have long been rumors that Skywalker dies in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but most of the rumors pointed to him dying at the end. What if he dies or is at least believed to be dead at the beginning of the film? And what if the film ends with him being found alive?

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is scheduled to be released in movie theaters on December 18, 2015.
