Fox Still Committed To Fantastic Four Characters Despite Disappointing Box Office

The Fantastic Four may have been thwarted by disappointing box office returns and dismal reviews, but Marvel's first family isn't going anywhere on screen.
After Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot opened well below expectations with a $26.2 million opening weekend and C-CinemaScore, many assumed that studio Fox might pull the plug on the Fantastic Four sequel already scheduled for summer 2017. But even after the poor weekend, and controversial comments from director Josh Trank, Fox insists that they're sticking beside the Marvel franchise.
"While we're disappointed, we remain committed to these characters and we have a lot to look forward to in our Marvel universe," Fox domestic distribution chief Chris Aronson told The Hollywood Reporter.
However, Hollywood Reporter pointed out that Aronson would not specifically comment on Fantastic Four 2. But since it's difficult to imagine Fox chopping their Marvel family up across different films, possibly in the X-Men movies, they're going to have to double their efforts for a successful Fantastic Four sequel.
Do you think Fox deserves another Fantastic Four movie? What would they need to change for the sequel? Let us know in the comments!
Fantastic Four 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on June 2, 2017 (for now).
