Godzilla: King of the Monsters Adds Hamilton Alum

While much is still unknown about Godzilla: King of the Monsters, the upcoming sequel has just added another cast member - with a pretty impressive resume.

Deadline is reporting that Anthony Ramos has joined the cast of the Legendary and Warner Bros sequel. Ramos is best known for originating the roles of John Laurens and Phillip Hamilton in the record-breaking hit musical Hamilton. Ramos' performance as part of the show's original cast helped Hamilton win a slew of awards, including countless Tonys and a Grammy.

In Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Ramos will be playing Corporal Mendoza, described as someone as "keeps calm and cool on the surface, but whose bravery isn't to be underestimated in battle."

Plot details are still unknown about Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which is currently in pre-production. Joining Ramos in the film will be Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring), Kyle Chandler (Bloodline), Ken Watanabe (Inception), O'Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), and Aisha Hinds (True Blood).

In addition to Godzilla, Deadline unveiled that Ramos will have a role in another major film. The actor will also appear in Warner Bros.' highly-anticipated remake of A Star is Born, alongside Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Ramos will be playing Ramon, an aspiring dancer and the best friend of Gaga's character.

Krampus and Trick'r'Treat filmmaker, Michael Dougherty, will helm Godzilla: King of the Monsters, based on a script he wrote with his Krampus co-writer, Zach Shields.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is scheduled for a March 22, 2019 release.
