Fox held a special event for Independence Day: Resurgence in which director Roland Emmerich (White House Down) and the main cast chatted about the film. Fox also released official images that include a look at the set, logo and the Moon Tug.

In 1996 aliens invaded Earth, luckily we stopped them with a computer virus. The post-war generation has spent the past 20 years creating new alien-human hybrid weapons based on the belief Earth would be attacked again.

Jeff Goldblum on David Levinson: He is now the director of Earth Space Defense. Borders are no longer relevant. The entire world is working together. The technology found from the downed ships has been appropriated and married with some of our technology, so we're ready with a bigger punch and shields.

Brent Spiner on Dr. Okun: Thought to have been killed off in the first one, Okun is back for the sequel and will be just as manic and excitable as he was in the original film. He has a new, longer wig. Though Spiner can't say why it is longer. Hmmph.

Sela Ward on President Lanford: She says she is totally different from Bill Pullman's President Whitmore. She's tougher, more decisive, more aggressive and not afraid to use force. Though, she can't fly a jet. A win for Whitmore!

Maika Monroe on Patricia Whitmore: She's a secret service agent and a fighter pilot that works with President Lanford. Huh?!

Jessie Usher on Dylan Hiller: His performance will be influenced from Will Smith's Captain Steven Hiller. Being the step-son of the world's savior is going to cause a lot of pressure to be placed upon his shoulders.

Angelababy (that's a real name?) on Rain: She's a Chinese fighter pilot. A tough girl that became a fight pilot because her parents were killed in the first invasion.

Liam Hemsworth on Jake Morrison: He too lost his parents in the first attack and grew up in an orphanage. When he grew up, he joined the military, becoming one of the best-of-the-best fighter pilots. My god, how many fighter pilots are in this film? He's demoted in the film to driving a forklift on the Moon, which is called a Moon Tug. He was demoted because his ego got him trouble. To the point in which someone's life was put in danger by a poor decision he made. Come on Jake, straighten up!

Vivica A. Fox on Jasmine: She's no longer the stripper with a heart of gold. She's now a hospital administrator.

Judd Hirsch on Julius: His arc in the film is to get to his precious son David.
