Another Arrow villain is headed to the big screen as part of Fury director David Ayer's big supervillain team-up film, Suicide Squad.
A source close to the production of Suicide Squad tells Cinema Blend that onetime Superman candidate Joe Manganiello is a candidate to play Slade "Deathstroke" Wilson, one of the film's antagonists.
Word from their source is that actor Jason Clarke is also being considered for the job, but that it's Manganiello's to lose or turn down, and that "it is an almost certainty that Manganiello has the role."
On Arrow, the part of Slade Wilson is played by The Hobbit villain Manu Bennett. Manganiello, best known for his role as Alcide Herveaux on True Blood, appeared in the Sam Raimi-directed Spider-Man films as Flash Thompson. Besides being rumored for Superman, he was briefly considered for Batman as well, and appeared in the David Ayer-directed Sabotage.
Suicide Squad is expected to start shooting this month for a release on August 5, 2016.
