Logan Star Dafne Keen Lands Next Major Role

The breakout star of the final entry to the Wolverine franchise, Logan, has landed her next major starring role.

Dafne Keen, who was introduced to the world as X-23 (or, Laura Kinney) in Logan, will be starring as the titular character in Ana. She will star in the drama with Luiz Guzman (Boogie Nights, Waiting).

According to Deadline's description of the film, "The two form an odd friendship after Ana meets Rafa in a chance encounter and they embark on a road trip to try and save him from bankruptcy, or worse."

The film doesn't sound too far from Keen's efforts in Logan. In the 20th Century Fox film, the actress portrayed a troubled young girl revealed to be a genetic project. Logan and X-23 were forced to set out on the road in an effort to find a sanctuary for the young girl -- one which her friends from the scientific labs were said to be waiting for her at. While they didn't face issues of bankruptcy, their obstacles certainly fell under the "or worse" category.

Ana's script is penned by Cris Cole (Mad Dogs) and will be directed Charles McDougal (House of Cards, The Good Wife). On board to produce the film is Luillo Ruiz's Pimienta Film Company. The project marks the second for Ruiz, Cole and McDougall, having worked together on Mad Dogs previously with Sony and Amazon Studios.

In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan's attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

Logan is directed by James Mangold, who co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Frank and Michael Green, from a story by Mangold, and also stars Patrick Stewart, Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant and Dafne Keen.
