Millennium Falcon Ride
Finally, Star Wars fans will be able to experience the thrills and excitement of traveling on the Millennium Falcon.
This new attraction doesn't take you on the Kessel Run, but it does put you in the cockpit of the Corellian freighter.
Everyone on the ride is an active participant in the experience; each guest will have a role in piloting the Falcon and making sure it is operating optimally. If you manage to get your cargo to its buyer quickly and unscathed, you'll earn a few extra credits.
But if the cargo is damaged, your buyer might put a bounty out on your head.
That bounty will affect your journey in the park, as bounty hunters might trap you for a confrontation in the nearby cantina.
It sounds like a truly immersive experience, an exciting adventure that all Star Wars fans will want to participate in.
Resistance Versus First Order Battle
The other attraction is said to put you in a Star Destroyer hangar bay, smack dab in the middle of a skirmish between Resistance and First Order forces.
It's not clear whether this ride will be on rails or a virtual simulator, a la Star Tours, but hopefully there's some actual movement involved.
The park itself will also feature a ton of familiar characters wandering around, including former Star Tours pilot RX-24 AKA Rex. You might see him as a DJ playing the latest tunes at the local cantina.
Galaxy's Edge will be home to many shops, and all of the shopkeepers will be Star Wars-themed creatures and aliens, adding to the immersive experience.
The Star Wars-themed expansion isn't based on any existing planets, and they've yet to reveal what this particular planet is called. But they are working with the Lucasfilm Story Group to flesh it out and make sure it fits in continuity, so there's a chance we'll see it in the future.
Right now, we can only wait patiently and hope the expansion doesn't suffer any delays, because 2019 cannot get here soon enough.
