Terminator Genisys Sequel Officially Removed From Release Schedule

Well, it finally looks like the slow and painful death of the Terminator reboot trilogy has finally come to an end. After the critical bashing of Salvation and Genisys, the third film in the series has officially been removed from Paramount's release schedule.

The film was originally scheduled to release on June 29, 2018, but the project has now been scrapped. Arnold Schwarzenegger's appearance in Genisys was supposed to bring audiences back on board with the franchise, and grab enough acclaim to move forward with the third film. This wasn't the case however, and the trilogy was shut down.

Not all is lost though, as there is probably more Terminator on the way.

Recently, James Cameron - creator of the Terminator franchise - announced that he was planning to produce another Terminator reboot. While he doesn't have time to direct it, he stated that Deadpool director Tim Miller was joining him to helm the movie. This is a power couple if there ever was one, so fans of Terminator should still have hope in the future.

While Cameron is ready to make another entry into Terminator history, the other founding member of its legacy has seemingly called it quits.

A couple of weeks ago, it was reported that Arnold Schwarzenegger was walking away from the franchise for good. After starring in the first three Terminator films, the actor returned for Genisys in 2015. His role was pretty substantial in the new film, and it looks like it took a bit of a toll.
