The Secret Life of Pets Gets An Honest Trailer

"Enjoy the exact same premise as Toy Story without all the toys, or heart, or humor, or story structure," says the Honest Trailers video for The Secret Life of Pets.
That's...pretty fair.
As noted in the video above, the premise for The Secret Life of Pets is that audiences get to see what your pets do when they're alone...and in this case, it's making mediocre and barely-comprehensible kids' movies.
The video calls out the movie for squandering an all-star cast, a fun premise, and a New York City setting on a forgettable movie that falls short of expectations and fails to kickstart another blockbuster animation franchise for the studio.
For their fifth fully-animated feature-film collaboration, Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures present The Secret Life of Pets, a comedy about the lives our pets lead after we leave for work or school each day.
Comedy superstars Louis C.K., Eric Stonestreet and Kevin Hart make their animated feature-film debuts in The Secret Life of Pets, which co-stars Jenny Slate, Ellie Kemper, Lake Bell, Dana Carvey, Hannibal Buress, Bobby Moynihan, Steve Coogan and Albert Brooks. Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and his longtime collaborator Janet Healy produce the film directed by Chris Renaud (Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2), co-directed by Yarrow Cheney and written by Cinco Paul & Ken Daurio and Brian Lynch.
The Secret Life of Pets is currently available digitally, as well as on Blu-ray and DVD.
