Tom Cruise Says No CGI Jets In Top Gun 2

Do you still feel the need for speed? Tom Cruise does ... as long as the aircraft aren't computer-generated.
While promoting his latest film Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, the 53-year-old actor was asked if he would reprise his role as Maverick in Top Gun 2, a sequel to Tony Scott's 1986 film that made Cruise a bonafide movie star. "If I can figure it out, if all of us can figure it out, it'd be fun to do," Cruise told Extra. "I'd like to fly those jets again, but we got to do all the jets practical, no CGI on the jets… I'm saying right now no CGI on the jets. If we can figure all that out, and the Department of Defense will allow us to do it, that would be fun."
The Top Gun sequel is currently being developed by Paramount and Skydance. Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li screenwriter Justin Marks was hired in 2014 to pen the script. The plot will focus on drone technology and how it effects modern fighter pilots, who live in an era in which dogfighting is all but extinct.
