Underworld TV Series Still In The Works

It seems that the Underworld franchise is about as hard to kill as its vampiric subject matter.
News of an Underworld TV series first broke in 2014, but little has been heard of it since then. It seemed possible that the series was scrapped when Kate Beckinsale signed on to star in a fifth Underworld movie, but writer/director Len Wiseman revealed at the TCA winter press tour that the show is still in development.
"Yes, there's been a lot of conversations and even development on what that series would be," Wisemen told Collider. "It's really appropriate for television, in terms of how those characters can really tie in, but also become something new. It's really an attractive space. I don't want to put a date on it because then that's going to be printed and it might not happen in that timeframe, but it is a thought."
So it seems that Underworld is still alive in two different, but possibly connected forms.
The Underworld films tell the operatic story of warring vampires and Lycans (werewolves) in the modern world. Beckinsale starred as Selene in the first three films of the series, but was absent from the most recent installment, 2012's Underworld: Awakening.
