Power Rangers Gets An Official Rating

The Power Rangers have always been sided on the family friendly end of things, and it looks like the upcoming Power Rangers reboot will be following suit.

With R-Rated films being all the rage these days (thanks in part to films like Deadpool), studios have tried to find ways to engage a more adult audience. Power Rangers fans won't have to worry about that, though, as the film has now been officially rated as PG-13 (via Power Rangers NOW).

It's not surprising, as an R-Rating for the series would elicit more than a few raised eyebrows and probably a revolt from younger fans who have enjoyed the numerous family-friendly series on Nickelodeon. That's not to say that an R-Rated Power Rangers couldn't be incredibly cool, as a previous short film made a compelling case for one.

"Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove - and the world - is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it's too late, band together as the Power Rangers."

Power Rangers stars Bryan Cranston (Zordon), Elizabeth Banks (Rita Repulsa), Naomi Scott (Kimberly/Pink Ranger), David Denman (Sam Scott), Becky G. (Trini/Yellow Ranger), Sarah Grey (Amanda), RJ Cyler (Billy Cranston/Blue Ranger), Emily Maddison (Rebecca), Ludi Lin (Zack Taylor/Black Ranger), and Dacre Montgomery (Jason Lee Scott/Red Ranger).

Power Rangers is set to land in theaters on March 24, 2017.
