Game of Thrones Fan Video Gives Arya and Brienne a Lightsaber Upgrade

While many moments of Game of Thrones' seventh season have warranted speculation and intrigue, one recent scene has proved to be a perfect mash up with a certain galaxy far, far away.

Youtuber Omid G. recently added lightsabers into the sparring match between Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) and Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie). The end result, which has since garnered over a million views, is pretty fantastic. Check out the video below.

Even though the scene - from the recent episode 'The Spoils of War' - was pretty awesome on its own, the addition of lightsabers (and the necessary sound effects) takes it to a whole other level. It also provides an awesome connection for fans of the current Star Wars trilogy, as Christie portrays Captain Phasma in that franchise.

The choice of lightsaber colors in the scene is pretty intricate too, with Brienne's blue lightsaber reflecting her 'guardian' nature. And the purple lightsaber Arya uses - which was made popular by the prequel trilogy's Mace Windu - could be interpreted as reflecting the combination of her dark and light tendencies.

Game of Thrones and Star Wars have earned quite a few fan mash ups in the past, with Omid G. also giving the 'Battle of the Bastards' sequence the lightsaber treatment as well.

Game of Thrones is currently airing on HBO. The latest film in the Star Wars franchise, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, hits theaters December 15.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the second film in the new Star Wars sequel trilogy that began with Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015. The film will deal with Luke training Rey to become a, and possibly the last, Jedi. Meanwhile, the Resistance, including Poe Dameron and First Order defector Finn, continues to fight against the First Order, led by General Hux, while Supreme Leader Snoke and his Dark Side follower Kylo Ren continue their mysterious plot.
