Thanks to the novel Star Wars: Bloodline, we know that Lando Calrissian is still alive and well in the era of the sequel trilogy; but now in Aftermath: Empire's End, releasing February 24, 2017, we'll get to find out what Lando was up to directly after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi. In an excerpt of the novel by Chuck Wendig released to io9, we get to find out where Lando went after that seminal Battle of Endor.

"'Lobot, we're home,'" the excerpt starts, giving us a not-so-subtle nod to Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the moment that Han Solo and Chewbacca returned to the Millennium Falcon. For Lando and Lobot, though, that means Cloud City on Bespin. In the rest of the excerpt, the pair tour Bespin's facilities, which range from a bit run-down to totally wrecked. In a surprisingly poignant moment to the political discussions of today, Lando specifically notes that Lobot should "hire some refugees" while looking to restaff and clean up Cloud City. Wendig's description of the location from Lando's point of view makes it sound like a place you may have visited yourself.

"Cloud City was always that, for Calrissian. It was a respite—a refuge from the Empire while at the same time not existing to spite the Empire, either. He thought, Hey, everybody can be happy, baby. The Empire didn't have to care. The rebels didn't need to care. Cloud City could hang in the air above Bespin, separate from all the chaos, from all the strife. Come here, taste a little luxury. Meanwhile, he could mine the Tibanna gas, sell it to whatever starship manufacturer wanted it (the stuff was perfect for making hyperdrives, because with Tibanna, a little went a long way). Meanwhile, Lando could sit back, have a drink, roll some dice, find a lady or three."

The rest of the excerpt analyzes Lando's position before and after joining the war, and Lobot reminding him he needs to get Leia and Han a gift for their baby. "Can we get him a cute little cape and a mustache?" Lando asks, and after reading that the only thing you'll want to see is baby Ben Solo wearing a cape and a mustache.
