Mark Hamill Responds To Speculation That He Dropped A Star Wars Spoiler

Mark Hamill just needs everyone to calm down a little.
The Star Wars actor posted a tweet yesterday in reference to a passing comment he made the night before. It all started during an event thrown by magazine The Big Issue, which featured Hamill interviewing The Kinks' Ray Davies live and on stage. While most of the event was centered on The Kinks, there was one offhand comment related to Star Wars, which started an internet fervor, though when Comicbook.com covered it, we noted the complete lack of context.
"I finish Episode VIII, and then I'm out of work," Hamill said.
Some took that to mean that he wasn't involved in Star Wars: Episode IX, or that it was just a red herring to throw fans off the trail. We wrote,
"Most likely, this is not Hamill spoiling anything about the next two episodic films in the Star Wars franchise. More probably, Hamill was speaking of his immediate plans, saying he didn't have anything directly on his schedule after wrapping Episode VIII. With no production schedule yet for Episode IX, let alone a finalized script, it's not something that'd even be on the actor's radar just yet."
As it turns out, we were spot on, as Hamill stated on his Twitter account yesterday once the story started catching fire.
"I meant "out of work" because #Ep8 is wrapping soon, OK? #DontOverThinkEVERYTHING #ParsingHamill #WaitForVIII"
Whenever his Star Wars work is done, he should really use that "ParsingHamill" title for a book or something. We won't know Luke Skywalker's post-Episode VIII fate until the movie hits theaters December 15, 2017.
