Mark Hamill To Get Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame

06/24/2017 01:43 pm EDT

Since appearing in the first Star Wars film forty years ago, Mark Hamill has grown into a bonafide pop culture icon. And now, the actor is set to earn a pretty significant honor - a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Hamill was recently revealed to be among the list of celebrities in The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's 2018 Walk of Fame class. Other nominees on the list include Gillian Anderson, Lynda Carter, Jeff Goldblum, Zoe Saldana, and Weird Al Yankovic.

Hamill, who is often rather outspoken on social media, took to Twitter after the initial announcement, revealing that the honor made him speechless.

Aside from playing Luke Skywalker - a role he will reprise in December's Star Wars: The Last Jedi - Hamill has established himself across the pop culture landscape. Many also know the actor for his prolific voice work, particularly as the Joker in countless DC Comics properties, beginning with Batman: The Animated Series.

While there is no set date for when Hamill will receive his star, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's protocol says that he has two years to schedule the unveiling ceremony. For fans of Hamill, it will certainly be worth the wait.
